Cream of Cathay - April 12th, 2010

Cream of Cathay

Cream of Cathay is an all inclusive skin care treatment that boasts the ability to be a “rejuvenating cream.” Apparently this product has been engineered with such exactness that it can cure and calm a number of your skin issues including the overall reduction of wrinkles. Developed by a Sir Jason Winters this product has been created using a powerful (but unspecified) herb along with other ingredients and rose water to make this superior healing balm.

Cream of Cathay includes the clarifying power of witch hazel along with the moisturizing ability of isopropyl. This product also includes an ingredient referred to as Pau d’Arco which has been shown to have success in treating ailments such as candida, arthritis, parasitic infections, and skin disorders such as eczema. Still, there is nothing located in the Cream of Cathay roster of components that leads us to have any confidence in its ability as an effective or successful wrinkle reducer. Wrinkle reducers commonly contain peptides which are pretty much the only ingredient that is currently acknowledged to have any wrinkle reduction powers whatsoever.

Cream of Cathay cannot possible possess the all healing power to proclaims itself to have. This product might be able to give you some moisturizing and clarifying benefits but nothing that will give you and age reversal or a younger appearance. There are plenty of products currently available that have the power to give you some anti-aging success. We suggest looking for something much stronger and better formulated. We do not recommend Cream of Cathay for purchase or use at this time.

Wrinkle System Diamond Edition - April 8th, 2010

Wrinkle System Diamond Edition

Wrinkle System Diamond Edition is a skin care treatment that claims the ability to boost the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. Collage and elastin are the naturally occurring elements that give the skin its firm and youthful appearance. Both begin to wane in both regeneration and storage as we age. This is what causes older skin to sag and wrinkle. Wrinkle System Diamond Edition is not alone in its assertion to recapture youth. Many have tried and most have failed. The best way to determine a product’s potential for success is to evaluate the ingredients.

Wrinkle System Diamond Edition lists its active ingredients as matrixyl, pomegranate extract, and retinol (a variation of vitamin A). Matrixyl is a copper peptide which some believe boosts collagen and elastin production in the skin. Wrinkle System Diamond Edition asserts that matrixyl has been proven by clinical trials and that some of these studies show a dramatic change in as much as 68% of test subjects. Pomegranate extract is used for its superior concentration of antioxidants. Retinol is an element that is required for skin cell growth and reproduction which can aid in eliminating damage cause to older skin. All of these things seem like advantages but we would like to know just how much of each ingredient is implemented in the Wrinkle System Diamond Edition formula and what the other inactive ingredients are. Without that information it is hard to determine the effectiveness of a product.

Wrinkle System Diamond Edition has convinced us of the sound theory it has been developed from but without proof of the listed ingredients being used in the correct amounts we are left with our hands up in the air. Good intentions are nice but results are what matter when you are asking someone to hand over their hard earned money. We do not feel comfortable recommending Wrinkle System Diamond Edition at this time.

Sculptra Aesthetic - April 8th, 2010

Sculptra Aesthetic

Sculptra Aesthetic is a skin care treatment in the form of an injection that must be administered by a licensed physician and is a system of three separate injections. Sculptra Aesthetic makes no outrageous claims. This product simply states the ability to replace lost collagen in the skin to give you a smoother and more youthful appearance for up to two years. The price of Sculptra Aesthetic is variable as different doctors charge different rates.

Sculptra Aesthetic’s active ingredients if a synthetic substance called poly-L-lactic acid. Poly-L-lactic acid has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use as an anti-wrinkle injectable treatment and has documentation in regard to its capacity for restoring collagen in the skin. Poly-L-lactic acid has been shown to smooth away wrinkles found around the nose, mouth and chin but has not been tested around the eyes at the time of this review. Sculptra Aesthetic differs from other products in that it is not a quick fix. This product does not freeze facial muscles but boosts the regeneration of collagen it does take several months before results begin to show. However, this may be worth the wait as they last longer as well.

Sculptra Aesthetic appears to be a respectable product from an upfront and honest company. These are two elements that should not be undervalued as they are hard to find in the wrinkle reduction market. This product will not give you a brand new face but it can give you a naturally occurring younger appearance. Those looking for a long lasting solution may want to investigate Sculptra Aesthetic even further. If you are interested in a less invasive anti-aging measure please look to our recommended products.

Sea Chi Organics Re-Hydrating Facial Serum - April 8th, 2010

Sea Chi Organics Re-Hydrating Facial Serum

Sea Chi Organics Re-Hydrating Facial Serum is a skin care treatment that claims to be able to cause your skin to “age gracefully.” This product is meant to provide extreme healing powers through its superior moisturizing ingredients. Sea Chi Organics Re-Hydrating Facial Serum states that all you need to do is apply a few drops to the delicate areas surrounding your eyes, neck and mouth and you will begin to see the restorative properties this product has to offer and “your face will love you.” This product’s suggested retail price is $104.40 for a 30mL supply.

The listed ingredients in the Sea Chi Organics Re-Hydrating Facial Serum complex are as follows: organic golden jojoba seed oil, olive squalane, and sea buckthorne berry extract. Sea Chi Organics Re-Hydrating Facial Serum considers itself to be an all natural organic product. There is nothing in this product that lends itself to increased wrinkle reduction of age combating. In truth, Sea Chi Organics Re-Hydrating Facial Serum doesn’t seem to be promoting itself as an age reversal treatment but as a preventative measure. While this product may have strong hydrating powers it will not aid in eliminating the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

As an anti-wrinkle treatment we can’t suggest this product. It has received some positive consumer feedback as a moisturizer, including you testimonial of a woman who suffered from multiple spider bites to the face and used Sea Chi Organics Re-Hydrating Facial Serum to reduce the swelling and redness to her face. If you are looking for a high-quality hydration system then Sea Chi Organics Re-Hydrating Facial Serum may be for you. As an anti-aging measure it falls short.

Renuven - April 7th, 2010

Renuven

Renuven is a moisturizing skin care treatment that promises to help you eliminate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles within as little as two days. Renuven claims that is accomplishes this unparalleled success through stimulating the growth of collagen in the skin. Collagen is the naturally occurring element that gives skin its elasticity and firmness. Collagen stores begin to deplete as we age therefore the theory behind Renuven is logical in that boosting collagen production should be able to cause a younger appearance. Renuven has an official website with consumer testimonials to support its assertions. This product can be purchased at the price of $49.95 per jar.

The active ingredients listed for the Renuven formulation are as follows: almond oil, hyaluronic acid, grape seed oil, green tea, and glycerin. These are mainly moisturizing and antioxidant ingredients. Moisturizers and antioxidants are commonly found in skin care creams as the skin looks and operates best when it is well hydrated and toxin free. However, none of the mentioned main ingredients have any proven ability for wrinkle reduction of age reversal benefits. This product strikes us as a glorified lotion.

Renuven is overpriced for what it offers. This product will give you the same results as a $10 hydrating cream that you can purchase at the grocery store. We aren’t saying that the listed ingredients don’t have some merit in a skin care product. We are merely stating that they cannot affect any anti-aging benefits on their own. If you find a product containing these ingredients along with peptides or other proven wrinkle combatants than feel free to attempt that product. Leave Renuven on the shelves.

Revitacil - April 7th, 2010

Revitacil

Revitacil is a skin care treatment that boasts the dual-action power to heal stretch marks while eliminating wrinkles. This product is now manufactured under the name Everderm CL but you can probably still find the original Revitacil packaging on auction sites. Revitacil claims that the wrinkle reduction properties will begin to appear within a six months period. This means you must purchase up to six month’s worth of this product to see the results they are promising. Revitacil retails for $29.95.

Revitacil uses Deionized Water, C12-15 Alky Benzoate, Sesame Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sweet Almond Oil, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Skin Repair Complex(Biopeptide-CL, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3, Phyllanthus Emblica Fruit Extract, Siegesbeckia Orientalis Extract, Polyglyceryl Methacrylate, Propylene Glycol, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Carbomer, Polysorbate-16, Glucosamine HCL, Algae Extract, Yeast Extract, Urea, Butylene Glycol, Centella Asiaticia (Hydrocotyl Extract), Coneflower (Echinacea Angustifolia Extract), Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, Bearberry Extract and Licorice PTH), Glycerin, PPG-12/SMDI Copolymer, Slyceryl Stearate, Cetearth-20, Barbadenise Leaf Juice (Aloe Extract), Rose Mainus Officinalis(Rosemary Extract), Sambubus Nigra Flower(Elder Extract), Cucumis Sativus(Cucumber Extract), Equisetum Arvenes(Horsetail Extract), Tea Tree Oil, Shea Butter, Tocopheryl Acetate, Mango Butter, Methylparaben, Polyacrylamide C13-14 Isoparafin Laurth-7, Propylparaben, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, Retinyl Palmitate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Hedera Helix (Ivy Extract), Aesculus Hippocastenum (Horse Chestnut Extract), and fragrance.

Do not be mesmerized by the sheer volume of the Revitacil ingredient roster. None of these ingredients has any superior power or relevance in an anti-aging and restorative cream. Most of the mildly beneficial ingredients are just run of the mill moisturizers and anti-oxidants. You can get the same minimal skin care benefits from a $7 bottle of moisturizer from your local grocery or drug store. There is nothing in the Revitacil formulation that warrants a $29.95 price tag and it certainly can’t give you the results it claims. We do not recommend Revitacil.

Stripeptin PE - April 6th, 2010

Stripeptin PE

Stripeptin PE is yet another Stripeptin brand product; this one is a skin care treatment that targets swollen or puffy eyes. This cream boasts the ability to reduce the inflammation that occurs around the eyes more readily with age and it can supposedly cause your skin to have a smoother and firmer appearance. Stripeptin PE also asserts that is can initiate prevention of puffy eye with consistent use. Puffy eyes are generally caused by a lack of elasticity in the thin skin surrounding the eyes and water retention. This product is meant to be used once a day and costs $49.00.

Stripeptin PE uses Aqua (Deionized Water), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf (Aloe Vera Gel) Juice, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Tetrasodium EDTA, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Leaf Extract, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract, Chamomilla Recutita Matricaria (Chamomile) Flower Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Betula Alba Leaf (Birch) Extract, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate-20, Ethoxydiglycol, Butylene Glycol, Fragrance, Methyl Paraben, DMDM Hydantoin, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, FD&C Blue #1.

These ingredients are mainly moisturizers and anti-inflammatory agents. This is not altogether a bad thing but it isn’t the most effective way to exact a change in appearance. None of the elements listed in the Stripeptin PE complex are wrinkle combatants or collagen regenerating tools. Collagen is the necessary ingredient when a product is promising to increase firmness and elasticity in the skin. Stripeptin PE falls painfully short of its own boasts and we can’t in good conscience recommend this product.

Stripeptin FL - April 6th, 2010

Stripeptin FL

Stripeptin FL is a skin care treatment that focuses on the elimination of fine lines, hence the initials FL. Stripeptin FL claims to be an effective and affordable solution for those who don’t have the money or time for expensive surgeries and injections. This product appears to be sold exclusively on eBay and cost an average of $48.00 per bottle.

Stripeptin FL uses Aqua (Deionized Water), Hydrolyzed Collagen, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin-E), Hydrolyzed Silk, Chamomilla Recutita Matricaria (Chamomile) Flower Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Hydrolyzed Elastin, Carbomer, Fucus Vesiculosus (Algae) Extract, Triethanolamine, Glycerin, Polysorbate-20, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben.

Hydrolyzed collagen can have some positive effects on the skin. Collagen is necessary for increased skin firmness and elasticity and the depletion of our natural collagen stores as we age is one of the main sources of wrinkle and fine lines appearing on the skin. Unfortunately all of the other ingredients found on this list as anti-inflammatories, antioxidants, moisturizers, and preservatives. While some of them have some benefit to the skin none of them can assist you in achieving a more wrinkle free and youthful appearance.

Stripeptin is a brand name and it has multiple products each with an initial marker to let you know what it is going to be treating specifically. What this ends up meaning is that you need to buy a separate product for each issue. If this were a line that seemed to have some merit we would be more than happy to suggest you do so but there is nothing in the Stripeptin FL formula that leads us to believe it has superior wrinkle fighting abilities. There are many products available that have established ingredients and clinically proven results. Ditch Stripeptin FL and find one of those.

Stripeptin DC - April 6th, 2010

Stripeptin DC

Stripeptin DC was developed with the express purpose of reducing under eye circles, or dark circles, hence the initials DC. This product asserted that is could instigate collagen growth and deep hydration that could penetrate and replenish through multiple layers of skin. This product did not have any scientific documentation to support its claims. Stripeptin DC has since been discontinued and we can’t pretend that we regret this in any way. As far as we can determine Stripeptin DC was another waste of space product. It would appear that others agreed.

Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Eye Treatment - April 6th, 2010

Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Eye Treatment

Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Eye Treatment is a skin care product that boasts the power to reduce the dark circles and bags that often become prominent around the eyes are you age. Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Eye Treatment claims that it is made of a lightweight formula that works to “improve melanin formulation and poor local microcirculation” which they assert are the causes for the onset of dark under eye circles. The manufacturers also state that the Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Eye Treatment has been thoroughly tested by both dermatologists and ophthalmologists and has been proven effective. This product retails with a price tag of $50.00.

Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Eye Treatment ingredients include Water, Glycerin, Hydrogenated C6-14 Olefin Polymers, Dimethicone, Denatured Alcohol, Dipropylene Glycol, Cetyl PEC/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, PEG 20, Titanium Dioxide, 3-0 Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, PEG-150, Polymehtylsisesquioxane, Sodium Chloride, Petrolatum, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbitan Sesquisostearate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Alcohol, Citric Acid, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Citrate, Fragrance, Cellulose Gum, Trisodium EDTA, Polysilicone-2, Mica, Silica, Limonene, Isostearic Acid, Benzyl Benzoate, Iron Oxides, Saxifraga Sarmentosa Extract, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cychlohexene Carboxaldehyde, Sodium Metabisulfite, Tamarix Chinensis Extract, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Linalool, Lauryl Betaine, Paeonia Suffructicosa Root Extract, Fagus Sylvatica Bud Extract, Rosa Roxburghii Fruit Extract, Rehmannia Chinensis Root Extract, Hypericum Erectum Extract, Zingiber Aromaticus Extract, Tocopherol, Sodium Benzoate.

Despite the confidence with which Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Eye Treatment tries to convince us of the science behind its complex the truth is that melanin formation has nothing to do with the dark circles found under your eyes. They are actually caused by blood pooling in the area below the eyes just as bags are caused by water building up there. Furthermore, the ingredients in this formula are substandard and just not strong enough to affect even the slightest bit of change in your appearance. For a product to be able to accomplish any of the things that this one promises it needs to include high doses of peptides, which aren’t found here. We do not recommend Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Eye Treatment.
