For most of us, caviar is a delicacy that tops the crackers of the rich. For Kerstin Florian, it is the key ingredient in an eye crème that claims to offer moisture and smoothness to the under-eye area. We are interested in seeing if this product will truly be effective as an anti-aging ingredient, as well as seeing what other ingredients are contained in this pricey little jar.
Product Details:
Costing about $120 for a half an ounce, this crème costs about the same as a serving of high-quality caviar. In fact, according to skincare specialist Jenny Harding, suggested that “you would do just as well swallowing a cod liver supplement every day to make your skin glow.” She said that in her professional opinion, “the best thing you can do with caviar is put it on a plate and eat it.” Why would caviar extract be an ingredient in this crème in the first place? Caviar is high in fat and protein, and rich in vitamins and minerals, but no more so than less ritzy, much cheaper extracts.
How It Works
This product also contains palmitoyl tripeptide-5. This is an excellent ingredient that stimulates the growth of collagen, which reduces wrinkles. There are other effective ingredients in this crème, such as moisturizers, skin renewing agents, and others.
Our Take
We would not recommend this product because we feel that the caviar is an extravagant ingredient – far too expensive relative to its effectiveness. Though we like the majority of the ingredients in this eye crème, we would suggest finding something that features a higher concentration of peptides if you are planning on spending this much money for an eye crème. In the event that you are looking for something equally effective at a fraction of the cost, look for something that does not feature caviar extract as its primary ingredient, but rather one of the thousands of other moisturizers that function in exactly the same way.
