CoQ10 is the primary ingredient claimed in this cream, which promises to act as an antioxidant and increase the elasticity of the skin. CoQ10 is an enzyme. It is found naturally in the skin, especially when a person is twenty to thirty years old. But as they age, the production of CoQ10 decreases, as does skin elasticity. This cream, created by NOW Food, is part of a line of skin care products that use CoQ10 for its anti-aging properties.

It is used in conjunction with a cleanser, a toner, and a serum. Claiming to have a “double dose” of CoQ10, we are a little unsure if that means that it contains twice as much as the other products in the line, or competing products, or if it was just an advertisement that is meaningless. As we look at the ingredients in the cream, we can determine their effectiveness, and therefore the overall effectiveness of the product.

Our Take

CoQ10 has been proven to reduce the signs of age in the area at the corners of the eyes, and has also been shown to effectively penetrate the surface of the skin, making it a surprisingly effective enzyme. The only issue is that we don’t know how much CoQ10 is required to increase skin elasticity and we also don’t know how much this product has. It seems to be relatively little. We cannot determine whether there is enough CoQ10 to be effective.
