Sculptra Aesthetic’s active ingredients if a synthetic substance called poly-L-lactic acid. Poly-L-lactic acid has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use as an anti-wrinkle injectable treatment and has documentation in regard to its capacity for restoring collagen in the skin. Poly-L-lactic acid has been shown to smooth away wrinkles found around the nose, mouth and chin but has not been tested around the eyes at the time of this review.

Sculptra Aesthetic differs from other products in that it is not a quick fix. This product does not freeze facial muscles but boosts the regeneration of collagen it does take several months before results begin to show. However, this may be worth the wait as they last longer as well.
