What is Transformula’s Mid-Life Marine Miracle Crème?
Transformula’s ‘Mid-Life’ anti-aging products include the crème, a cleaner, a concentrated serum, and a cell toner and serum. From the name of the product, we can expect to see derivatives or extracts of undersea plants or products, but in order to truly minimize wrinkles and fine lines, there would need to be more substantial active ingredients.
The Ingredients
Unfortunately Transformula, like many other companies, does not provide a full ingredient list. It only lists the active ingredients. This is problematic because not only do we not know what else is in the product (including ingredients that possibly irritate the skin) we also do not know how much of each ingredient is in the crème. The ingredients listed are Lysedine, algae, sea salts, and giant sea kelp. The algae and salts are used as exfoliates. They remove dead skin cells and keep the skin smooth. The giant sea kelp is used as a moisturizer. Hydrated skin appears less aged, but none of these are enough to truly make a lasting difference. Unfortunately, the Lysedine is in ingredient patented by Transformula. Nothing it known about it other than its description given by the company and those descriptions are hardly impartial. We do not know if it contains powerful anti-aging components or just more of the same moisturizers.
Conclusion
Because Transformula does not provide all the information we need to make an informed decision, and because the product is relatively expensive ( £39 for 15 ml, or about $63 for 1.7 fl. oz.) we wouldn’t recommend using this product. It simply does not have the capacity to reduce wrinkles. From the ingredients, we assume that it would function very well as a moisturizer and exfoliate, but this company has made some hefty claims about that this line can do by way of reversive skin care, and those go beyond the functions of a typical cleanser.
